HOW ANGER AFFECTS YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

Relationship is defined as a connection between people, some can be emotional.  We have relationships with our spouses, children, parents, siblings, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc.

When your display of anger gets out of hand, those closest to you can feel threatened.  We may feel that we have plenty of reasons to be angry, but most times the other person feels that your anger is unjust.  When we are angry, seldom do we express it in an appropriate manner. We often are excessive when we are angry as opposed to when we are simply being assertive.  The primary reason for getting angry is the thought that someone did something to you that you didn’t like. When you think that someone has wronged you, you often want revenge.

Anger can become addictive.  As with most addictive behaviors, such as with alcohol, cocaine, etc., relationship destruction often occurs.   Anger can destroy or erode relationships we have with those we choose to share our lives with.

We are bound to have disagreements or experience disappointment with the people in our lives, but how we deal with it will determines the success or failure of those relationships.

When you know or are told that you have hurt someone with your words or actions, it is very important to apologize with sincerity. There are many things that give us the authority to negatively Impact others.  All relationships are important, remember if you hurt someone how will they hurt you back.
